Do you mean the bay in Boston Massachusetts? My family and I were just there like a week ago for our vacation. We stayed in the Seaport area. The weather stations were saying that it was going to be really bad up there. Thankfully, the weather wasn't terrible when we went. Just one Thunderstorm that lasted about 15 minutes. (When we were on the tour bus nonetheless).

No, the bay as in Chesapeake Bay in Norfolk, VA.

Some big trees were down around the Boston Fenway, with high winds whipping still through another night. They apparently didn't get stronger than 60 mph in Boston so we never lost power, but adjacent cities like Brookline did and on the South Shore.

Sunday many businesses like Starbucks and Subway were closed due to MBTA shutdown, but others were open. Not many people were on the streets all day though. Today it's sunny, warm and seems back to normal.

I survived Irene

Here on the Crystal Coast of NC the eye of Irene passed right over us. We made out ok with just some minor damage. Still a lot of power outages around here. I currently have power but no internet, cable tv or phone service. It seems that the main grid box took a direct lighting strike which set my neighbors houses to the right of me on fire...no SH** on fire, it melted all there commincations boxes on their houses. So I don't know when TWC will get to the main grid box, until then I'm wi-fi hacking....lol.

Downed trees, flooded streams, uprooted trees. Lost power, water, and Cable for 10 hours. Backup plan was a success. 3G dongle, and power saver.

Everything returning to normal in Upstate NY.

Where's the pioneering spirit?
Daniel Boone would not have spoken about such minor inconvenience & deprivation.
Guess it's all relative.

Having survived a Category 5 Cyclone with very destructive winds gusting to 260 km/h near the Cyclone's "Eye" & dangerous storm tides of 8 metres (26 ft high) I feel for those who are deprived of life's necessities - not luxuries.

The aftermath is always protracted - tidying up the resultant chaos & waiting for power/Internet /water/services to be restored & food replenished.
In our case almost 14 days before any "? semblance of normality" returned.
