hopefully he will regain his health and have eons of time to enjoy his accumulated wealth. retire rich at 55 why wouldnt you if you could?
-
I dont use apple products mostly but I dont have anything bad to say. If I was him I would just quit work all together. Hes sure got the money to do so.

Sad news indeed. May he regain his health soon.
-
People say the move was based on his health condition, I say it was staged to allow for the best timing to allow Tim Cook to take over.
-
The man does have cancer (pancreatic?) and has been in and out of work for the last few years because of it.
Its my opinion that his move is health related.
However, from all his previous removals from the role, he's returned to that many times.
Time will tell if he'll make another return.
Either way, the guy is a historic figure, and all the best to him.

The last time a major tech company shifted from its visionary leader to someone else, that company crapped on itself. Who was it? Microsoft. When Bill Gates left and steve ballmer came in, Microsoft's stock lost value, they lost ground everywhere, they came into new markets late, and vista effectively defined the last decade of Microsoft.
apple losing its visionary leader to someone that the leader trusts and is close to him, Tom Cook, may follow the same route. If I was a betting man, I'd say that apple's vision and "innovation" will stagnate. They need major innovations to keep them going.
Although I don't wish the end of people because they lead apple, having said that, the reign of Microsoft may come back this decade!
Hopefully steve jobs gets well though...

Actually, his stay-on as a chairman seems like Vladimir Putin staying on as Prime Minister of Russia and indirectly influencing policy even though he isn't president. Hmm, maybe I may be wrong...
-
I didn't expect that. Though considering his recent cancer, it was probably coming. I do hope he recovers soon, he's done a great job as CEO. He just wanted a break from it all I suppose.

He has done a tremendous job at Apple, and its good for him to rest and try to gain his power back after the long sickness.
I hope upcoming Iphones are also going to be a hit just like Iphone 4. I can't think of changing my Iphone to other brands, at least not yet.
