From the you can't pick your relatives department.

A relative of mine recently went on an unpleasantly belligerent rant about not being able to use the Windows calculator because it didn't have a divide key. Yeah, it didn't have a ÷ key. Instead it has a / key. Then he claims that he has never ... not ever ... seen a / used for divide. Where the f*** was he for fractions in grade school?

That's nothing I went to fix someone's 'new' computer once, when I opened I actually thought there was a dead cat inside, both he amount of hair and the smell were just nauseating.

it turned out to be a first generation pentium chip machine running win98.

needless to say I was unable to help him with his problem.
partially because the computer was crap anyhow
but mostly because I couldn't stop gagging.

Me: Click on the Start button.
Our modem customer: It shows shutting down.
Me: Which button did you click?
    Customer: The start button.
Me: Then how come it is Shutting Down?
Customer: Because you asked me to do so......
Me: Did you press the power button on your PC?
Customer: Of course, where else you'd find the "Start" button?
    Me: WTF.

You've got to admit though, using a Start button to invoke the Shutdown procedure was not one of Microsoft's better ideas.

It is rather easy to inadvertently hit shut down instead of restart.

I've often thought the same thing, but then I once read where somebody explained it this way: "The shutdown procedure in and of itself is still a process that must be started..."

I guess, in a way, it's somewhat true.
