And if you subscribe to the theory that the whole of the universe is INFINITE in size, then EVERYTHING shown in the video is just a speck of dust as compared to the size of the entire universe. . .
Thats a good find Wolfgang. As a scientist by profession, I'm always trying to give my children a perspective of the scale of our existence.
My favorite object reference is the red supergiant star Betelgeuse (they like it because it sounds like well...."beetle juice" to them, and they can see it - it sits in the constellation Orion, in the armpit of the upward pointing arm of the constellation). It's so large, were it to be centred at where our Sun sits, its outer edge would extend to completely enclose Jupiter at its furtherest orbital point from the Sun.
As my daughter points out : if its that big, and you can see it, then its very big indeed.
