i have considered an apple laptop, but for 1 with a 17" screen they are around £1600 for the cheapest and i just cant budget for that much

i dont produce, but dj music thats a bit harder, stuff called hardstyle and dutch hardcore/industrial, but also like hard trance, trance, electro, hard techno

oh Techno Viking, I started spinning with gabber and hard acid

I currently spin techno (minimal, detroit, swedish, acid), deep, funky, tribal, tech-house, dnb and downtempo - I think my hardest sounding genre is dnb

been doing it since 96, still have my trusty 1200s but going digital obviously

do you use a controller with your vdj? If so - what brand?

I've been sitting on getting the Traktor X1, seems it's the new industry standard

ive got the hercules 4mx, not had it that long if im honest so im no superstar dj, but its a cheaper way to learn dj'ing than it is to get cdj's etc. there aint many controllers you can get for vdj really

not looking to go further than bedroom dj tbh as got 2 much commitment with work as i do 4 on 4 off shifts, days and nights.

may possibly in the future look at gettin traktor, but i think its a bit more complecated than vdj, so ill wait til i get better at that.

yeah I heard that hercules is the best if not the only compatible brand for vdj - they have some decent models - obviously not Traktor or Allen Heath, but it works.

no biggie about the bedroom dj gig - it's a good way to relax and enjoy your music, the way you want to hear it - the internet has many options to share mixes

mixcloud.com and destinedtolive.com/ are good outlets. I have yet to sign up to the latter but have friends who put mixes up.

I've gone from bedroom dj to club/party dj to computer dj - never made it big but had some memorable and impressionable gigs. I wouldn't mind gigging again, but it can be a hassle if you don't have the money nor resources.

I might be lugging my tables out for a triphop night though - but I will need to get paid, can't do this for free (or beers) anymore.

mixcloud and destinedtolive are two good sites for mix uploading
