Silver Linings Playbook -- Didn't really want to see it when I read the synopsis, but it was a very enjoyable film. Very quirky!
Is Silver Linings Playbook an appropriate film to take someone to on a second date?

Mmmmmmm, I don't think so. I think you'd want to know someone fairly well before seeing a film like this together. It's not because there's a lot of sex in the film (cause there ISN'T) --- it's just that the characters are kind of crazy and crude.

Blast from the past. I must agree. It was a really good film.

If you liked that, I recommend you watch Salt (2010) - IMDb if you haven't already.

    the deer hunter,
hadn't watched this film for around 25 years,
i recall when i originally saw it how miserable it makes you feel in places.
still as moving and powerful after all these years.
