A movie from when movies meant something more than just violence for violence sake:

Falling Down (1993)

Awesome, awesome movie starring Micheal Douglas about an office worker who gets mad at all the rubbish happening to his life, family and surroundings; breaks down and finally decides to take some corrective action for the working man against the perceived injustices occuring around him.

If you've ever had one of those days that never went well for you, watching Micheal Douglas get some payback is a great form of catharsis..

Yeah but Christian Bale is quite awesome in this film

The introduction of the film with it's haunting scenes featuring the 'history' of the world and its dictators was quite phonomenal too..

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)

This is (together with the movies Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Breakfast Club) the quintessential high school movie before the concept was overused and cheapened by subsequent movie releases of the genre.

Featuring a cast of future stars in the prime of their youth (Sean Penn, Forest Whitaker, Judge Reinhold and Jennifer Jason Leigh), this movie became particularly infamous due to the 'scene'.

Yes, those who have seen it know what I'm talking about. It was rumored that most rentals of the videotapes of this movie got ruined due to the constant slow-motion/pausing-rewind-play people were doing to their tapes at that particular 'scene'

It's a very no holds barred movie, and a definite recommendation. 8/10 for me.
