My cat would have made short work of anything like that. She traps and kills anything that jumps or crawls around the floor.

Welcome to computing in Australia.....totally harmless by the way. Just your average Huntsman spider - good for catching mosquitoes.

I have three of them and they were sniffing at it and watching it at the time it was crawling across here foot, but she didn't have her glasses on so it wasn't quite clear as to what it was. She asked me what it was and I just told her it was bad and you don't want to know. That thing was a full grown one it was 2 inches long the one in the picture isn't the one it was just a picture off of the internet, I should have bottle him and kept him, but my wife wouldn't have it.

The kids are usually the culprits that let these things in, we have a sliding glass door that they shut to hard sometimes and in bounces back when it hits the jam and leaves a crack to let things come freely in. Once my daughter left a paperback book on the floor and when she went to open the cover on her lap she had a nice size scorpion in the cover but at least she was calm about it .

My wife has a knack for things tickling her toes once she had her toes hanging over the edge of the concrete and a big Sherman Tank Stink Bug was crawling under her toes rubbing his back on the underside of them, that went over well. Women are funny but my three cats are usually the saviors of the house as you stated richnrockville.

I'm sure that's a delicacy in certain parts of the World ! Women they just have no humor when it comes to spiders and bugs.
I must most unfortunately contradict you ;-) I am very fond of spiders and have a so-called bug viewer to catch everything on six or eight legs and have a close look at them. They are, of course, released via the window afterwards, though spiders are most welcome to stay on in my room (their webs are always wonderful to see).

I don't understand the two names. They are not native to Jerusalem and they don't eat potato's.

A possible explanation with potatoes being a tuber.:
insects use their strong mandibles to feed primarily on dead organic material but can also eat other insects.[2] Their highly adapted feet are used for burrowing beneath moist soil to feed on decaying root plants and......tubers.
    And:
Several hypotheses attempt to explain the origin of the term "Jerusalem cricket".[8] John Stoffolano hypothesizes that the term originated from a mixing of Navajo and Christian terminology. He suggests that Franciscan priests had a strong connection with the Navajos, particularly in the development of the Navajo dictionary and vocabulary. These priests, Stoffolano contends, heard the Navajos speak of a "skull insect" and took this to be a reference to Skull Hill, the cliff outside Jerusalem near the place where Jesus was said to be crucified.

I also edited my previous link with this one because I had a connection problem, and this link is more reliable.
