I'm sure that's a delicacy in certain parts of the World ! Women they just have no humor when it comes to spiders and bugs.
A mighty fine specimen youhavehad there seth.
They are useful predators, feeding on other insects and spiders. Although fierce looking, Jerusalem Crickets are harmless, but their powerful mandibles could inflict a minor, non-venomous wound if handled carelessly.

I would keep a wary eye out for any more as crickets in the house is not good.
Check for any obvious openings around the perimeter of your house, and caulk them.
As for prevention, any boric acid based product should do okay like ones for Cockroaches, Palmetto Bugs, Waterbugs, Ants, Silverfish, but use hand, eye, and breathing protection the dust can irritate mucus membranes.
Apply with a hand bulb duster.
Please offer my sympathies to your Dear Wife, mine would of had the same reaction!

That's good advice and thank you Anak I will let my wife know. :)
I just laugh at her and she told me I should be more compassionate to her bug feelings.
That was my impression.
I didn't know what they were until I looked it up on google most dammed thing I ever seen.
