Ha! I've found another genre of music that I like, brilliant!

I'm not sure whether any of you've heard of Jonsi? Icelandic artist, beautiful music. On his webpage, I've run into a post which was asking for similar music.

The genre is Post-Rock... that's it, that's what I like. I'm just happy that I can listen to new music that I like. Also, thank you all for contributing with your answers, I did find many good pieces of music to listen to on my iPod.

Sounds like the sort of music associated with Jean Michel Jarre

    Possibly Ambient music
Ambient is the first thing I thought of. So I agree.

Anybody else think there are a bewildering number of genres and sub-genres out there?

Oh yes, I've just discovered that there is a genre of music that makes you think of elves, dwarves, fantasy and the like... it's "Celtic" music. Strange huh?

If you like Celtic (pronounced Keltik) music, try listening to the Irish chanteuse, Enya.

I'll agree it's not a style to everyon'e liking, but some of it is very relaxing and can be ideal as background music for home movies.

I've collected a decent spectrum of music over the years, not particularly being bothered with what genre it was but it's nice to find something new occasionally. Looking at the Wiki on Ambient music - I still have a couple of LPs of Terry Riley! The OP might like to look at the works of Klaus Schulze, Bruno Heuze, Bernd Kistenmacher and Rudiger Lorenz amongst the many other synthesizer enthusiasts. They are still on tape in my collection so don't get played much these days.
