Oscar awards and what REAL viewers like

    Hi there
I can usually tell the popularity (or otherwise) of a movie by how quick a non CAM version is "released" into the wild.

For example Gravity and 12 years a slave found their way into the wild at decent hi-res quality - but both movies aren't really that popular with the general public -- and there seems to be some "political correctness" stuff around preventing people saying they didn't actually like 12 years a slave or weren't interested in seeing it.

Now the movie "The Monuments men" seems to be far more popular - but so far still hasn't made it into the wild other than by a CAM version.

This post does NOT approve of using torrents for obtaining these movies -- I'm just stating my perceived observation that the most popular movies take a long time to appear in the wild in decent 720p / 1080p while relatively unpopular films at the box office get leaked quite quickly.

    Cheers

Odd, it would seem the more popular ones in good quality would be leaked first.

    BTW, what is "cam version"?

I think it's when someone uses a camcorder or other recording device in the theater and then puts it on the web.

Oh, that makes sense Jerry. I think I've seen one at a friend's house, the picture moved a lot and was grainy.
