iPod 4G bricked by latest iTunes I tried to update to iOS 5, and got error 1611 "unknown error". I was previously running iOS 4.3.3. Nothing on the Apple troubleshooting pages helped either. | My System Specs |

Did you already upgrade iTunes to 10.5? Yep fresh install of iTunes. Also, I tried several times. Same exact error every single time. your best bet is to hand brick it and put it in DFU mode, to do this, plug your iPod in to iTunes, hold the home button and sleep/wake button until the apple logo appears, then keep holding the home button but let go of the sleep/wake button, hold that for 25 seconds, the device is now in DFU mode and iTunes will detect it, restore it from here. DFU Mode is basically factory mode, it'll wipe everything so I hope you've got back ups stored on iTunes. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Q6600 @ 2.6Ghz Motherboard Evga NF78-CK-132-A 3-Way SLI Memory 4Gb DDR2 Corsair Dominator @ 800Mhz 5-5-5-15 Graphics Card EVGA 560 GTX SC FTW 1GB Sound Card Realtek HD 7.1 Audio, Plantronics GameCom780 7.1 Headset Monitor(s) Displays Dell S2409W 16:9, HDMi, DVI & VGA Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech generic keyboard Mouse Razor Lachesis Banshee V2 Blue, 4000DPI PSU Xigmatek 750W Quad sli quad core 80% eff Case Antec 900 Gaming Case Cooling Zalman CNPS9700-NT NVIDIA Tritium Hard Drives Samsung 7200rpm 250Gb SATA

I have no backups as I did not have anything that I can't get back easily on my iPod anyway. As long as I can get the device to a functional state, its fine. I'd rather not spend another $299 to replace it (32 GB model).
Also I got this error when I tried to restore from this mode anyway. I'm trying once more. This time on my laptop. I hope it works this time... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number iBuyPower Chimera X58 OS Windows 8 Pro x64 CPU Intel Core i7 920 Motherboard Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Memory 12GB (2GB x6) Triple Channel DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB GDDR5 Sound Card Integrated Digital HD 7.1 Surround Sound Monitor(s) Displays 24.6-inch ASUS VW246H 20000:1 Contrast, 2 ms response time, Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Razer Lycosa Mouse iBuyPower Ergonomical Internet Mouse PSU NZXT 800W Gaming Series Case Guardian Inferno (Custom Painted NZXT Guardian 921) Cooling Thermaltake V1 Fan Cooling System OC Proof Hard Drives 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA II 3 GBps 16MB cache Internet Speed 11 MBps High-speed Cable |

My Touch upgraded that night, on the third try..... but the Shuffle I bought last Saturday, for some unknown reason, I can't get the VoiceOver feature to install. I'm not really worried about it, because I can live without it, but a Shuffle and Touch are two very different things. Did you look around iLounge, maybe? I don't know where else one might look if the Apple pages don't help. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Got it working again at least... not sure what happened! I tried to "restore" again, and it simply booted back into 4.3.3. Wow, iTunes is seriously glitched on my PC I think... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number iBuyPower Chimera X58 OS Windows 8 Pro x64 CPU Intel Core i7 920 Motherboard Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Memory 12GB (2GB x6) Triple Channel DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB GDDR5 Sound Card Integrated Digital HD 7.1 Surround Sound Monitor(s) Displays 24.6-inch ASUS VW246H 20000:1 Contrast, 2 ms response time, Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Razer Lycosa Mouse iBuyPower Ergonomical Internet Mouse PSU NZXT 800W Gaming Series Case Guardian Inferno (Custom Painted NZXT Guardian 921) Cooling Thermaltake V1 Fan Cooling System OC Proof Hard Drives 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA II 3 GBps 16MB cache Internet Speed 11 MBps High-speed Cable |
