    Am I Proud? You Bet!

I realise that I really shouldn't brag, but I just wanted to say how proud I am of my eldest grandson who has just started a new job at the Williams F1 company near Wantage in Oxfordshire.

From the age of 11, the lad has wanted to work in motor racing and after completing a three-year apprenticeship has just been taken on as the first technician in the team that will be developing and building the new Jaguar C-X75 sports car.

    Jaguar International - PROJECT C-X75

It really is a dream job for him and he tells me his first week went really well. As a grizzled old grandfather it just pleases me to see a youngster get on by using his wits and abilities to make something of himself - and with a British company.

    Cheers fellas.

Rich, I think any genes he inherited he must have got from his Nan, who he is very close to.

When I asked him how his first week went, he just said: "I'm the rookie and I'm just going to watch, listen and learn."

very well done , that takes a lot to get accepted in F1, i know, my stepson wants to be a car designer and has researched different avenues.
he recently got the second place in the young achievers national awards for his mechanics course he did at college on day release from school.

Mechanic Miska's runner-up for national title

A BUDDING mechanic has reached the finals of the Young Student of the Year Awards for the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).

    1. From left, Andrew Founks, George Oliver, IMI Young Student of the Year finalist Miska Tarnai and Rob Moyles.

Miska Tarnai, of Truro, is a pupil at Penair School and also took a motor vehicle course at Truro College one day a week as part of a two-year Increased Flexible Learning Programme.
Truro College lecturer Rob Moyles said: "I presented Miska's case to the board of the IMI Awards to recognise the efforts that Miska has achieved since he's been in college. His results in all his tests have been in the high nineties bracket."
Andrew Founks, lead verifier for the South West, presented the award along with a cheque for £50, and said: "He's an exceptional student to represent Truro and Penwith College in a national competition. Hundreds were nominated and he's made the final two.
"Miska missed the formal awards ceremony with HRH Prince Michael of Kent because he was studying for his GCSEs, so it's my pleasure to present this award."
Miska is continuing his studies at Truro College.

Bill, my order is in as we speak - not! :)

Thank you panais and boogieboy and all of you, Matt will be delighted with your good wishes.

Congratulations to your stepson, boohbah. It really is a hard, competitive world out there and our youngsters need all the encouragement we can give them.

Gone are the days when you could straight out of one job and into another as there is fierce competition for any openings that are available.
