    Is coupons.com safe?

My wife is big into coupons and uses this site and their coupon printer. I stumbled across some information that leads me to believe it is not safe or at least wasn't a few years back. Anyone have any info on this for me? Thanks

Hello kf9vh and welcome to the forums

I can't say for sure about how safe this is, but I can provide you with this information:

    coupons.com | McAfee SiteAdvisor Software

coupons.com | WOT Reputation Scorecard | WOT (Web of Trust)

Watch it with the WOT ratings, they're written by the WOT community - most of which have no solid evidence behind what they say

    Hi, kf9vh.

The site has mixed ratings at WOT: coupons.com | WOT Reputation Scorecard | WOT (Web of Trust)

At URLVoid.com, it had two findings as "suspicious", however both were due to being included in the WOT listing as well as the hp HOSTS file.

I always trust VT ( VirusTotal - Free Online Virus, Malware and URL Scanner ) well before I trust WOT. VT 's rating is based on malware and security, while WOT is based on a mob like rating system, simply composed of people's opinions. WOT might make me think twice before I were to whip out my credit card and purchase something, but VT will stop me from ever even thinking about going to the questionable web site.

I believe most of the negative things said have to do with the coupon printer software you must install.

The Coupon Printer allows us to offer you this coupon. You should know that:
    It Is Anonymous

The Coupon Printer does not gather or ask for any personal information about you or your computer.

The Coupon Printer does not report any information about your Internet use. It is only used for coupon printing.
    It Is Secure

The Coupon Printer is an industry-standard ActiveX control or Internet Plugin.

The Coupon Printer provides security features that are needed to provide you with a real coupon you can use in a store.

The Coupon Printer provides encryption to make sure that your privacy is protected.
    It Is Trusted

The Coupon Printer is provided by Coupons, Inc., the industry leader in secure online coupon promotions.

Coupons, Inc. is our trusted partner, and provides services to many large companies.
Their EULA apparently states that the registry keys installed with the coupon printer will not be removed if you uninstall the coupon printer. Have a look here:

Coupons.com and TRUSTe: Lots of Talk, Too Little Action

Quite frankly, I wanted a coupon once that required the installation of that "little piece of software". I said no thanks. A Guy
