It will be interesting to see which curve they will be flying. Maybe the large resistance against the /8 bummer has helped and they will fix this playmobile.

Old news: Windows Blue is Microsoft's future low-cost OS with yearly updates | The Verge.

It's not going to be "Windows 9", just an update for Windows 8.

I also predict that Windows 9 will use a mouse and keyboard. Imagine playing an action game with a touchscreen.
Touch screen wouldn't work with any of the MMOs I play.
I'd like to try playing GTA IV on a touchscreen PC (Priceless)

ZDNet now reports that the Windows Store will stop accepting new aps for Windows 8 just before Windows Blue is released. However, Windows Blue will be able to run all 8 aps, but 8 will not be able to run Blue aps.

Folks, MS might have a money-maker here. A steady steam of low-cost upgrades, along with new aps that require the upgrade, could give them a more steady cash flow.

I think you are right. It reminds me the 60s and 70s IBM system where you rented the equipment rather than buying it. That was the time when IBM had the best cashflow and was very predictable.

I don't think this would go over super well, Unless upgrades are free or less than $15

I will not argue as Windows should have been better. But, since it's all that runs on my new computer, there is little I can do about it. Hopefully, they will replace 8 sooner than later. Maybe most of those little tiles will soon go away, as they are also useless!

MS had announced some time back that Windows 8 will be their last OS that will have a 32-bit version. But many programs are 32-bit, and they run well on 64-bit computers. Will Win 9 support older 32-bit programs? "Yes," says one tech site. There are just to many 32-bit programs being used. Will MS stop supporting 32-bit programs in the future? If so, it won't be for a long time.

A tech site reports two rumors about Windows Blue (which may or may not be Windows 9).

    1) The Start Page tiles will be "highly resizable." That's a good idea, because now they only come in two sizes.

    2) The traditional desktop will use tiles instead of the current icons. Uhmm, this sounds as intelligent as getting rid of the Start Button.

Of course MS is working on Windows 9. They were working on it before 8 was released.
