Monster's Digital life usb 2.0 cables support 800 Mbps - how?

Monster® claims that their "Digital life" usb 2.0 cables support +800 Mbps which is almost twice as fast as the usb 2.0 certified speed of 480 Mbps.

See here Digital Life™ High Performance Mini USB Cables - High Speed

Are they outright lying? If not how is this possible? Everything I have ever read on usb 2.0 suggest the limit is 480 Mbps.

They're not claiming that you'll ever achieve 800Mbps, merely that they're cables could support it, if it were possible.

I wonder how many people buy these cables expecting to get faster throughput only to find out that their fancy new cable is so much faster.....but they'll never see that extra speed. Monster sure is good at scamming people. A Co-worker of mine recently purchased one of their hdmi cables $39.99 for 3.39 feet what a ripoff. I promptly told her to take it back.

This kind of snake-oil marketing is rampant in the audio world.....Monster is one of many offenders. I would never buy anything from them.

Heck, they created DSL and made it work on thousands of feet of old, unshielded telephone wire that's been buried for half a century. So there. :)

The only thing 'Monster' about that company is the prices it's gets away with charging.
