Kindle Fire

I'm thinking of getting this device. At the moment, all wireless connections are off on my router. While I live in a safe neighborhood, I'd still prefer to keep things as hardened as possible. Essentially, I'm a total boob about wireless.

Can you offer pointers or sites that can get me up to speed setting up a secure wireless network so I can access the Kindle within my home area without worry of intrusion or theft?

Thanks,
Burt
