A pip is just another word for what you called a dot.

1-The small seed of a fruit, as that of an apple or orange.

2-Games
a. A dot indicating a unit of numerical value on dice or dominoes.
b. A mark indicating the suit or numerical value of a playing card.

3- A spot or speck.
