Hi Ted it's a Seagate Expansion 500GB Desktop Drive, no Windows 7 will be on my internal drive I've already shrunk the C: partition so I now have unallocated space ready for when my copy arrives, I do have a copy of the RTM but thought I'd wait until I got my pre-order copy before installing.
It was my understanding that you can't run an OS from an external drive. I got this bigger drive for my drive image backups especially when I get 7 as the one I have already is only a 2.5 portable 80GB drive, not really big enough for dealing with a couple of OS's and backing up other stuff

That's true but it may be changing with the wide use of eSATA, I haven't had any dealings with it myself yet though.
