You sure your not just making that all up?!

Actually, very interesting - but I would guess it offends Christians becausee it basically looks like crossing out Christ with an X, while others would argue it looks like a cross being carried at that angle so they're offended. (but then again the average person hasn'tt read your post, Britton)

Nope, it's true. another sign that was used was the simple fish drawing. one would put down one curve and if the other would complete it, they knew they were brothers.

    Good point!!

Especially the Xmas. Xmas? What is Xmas???
Hopefully not considered religious. The early Christians were perscuted by Rome and Jews so when they met an "X" was drawn in the dirt to identify each other, if the other person responded with a like sign. "X" is the Greek chi, an abbreviated form of Christ.

Thats what annoys me - everyone getting offended by anything they can see, but they don't like......my neck pivots! maybe they never got that feature installed.

    Mike
I don't think so, quite a few Christians refer to themselves as "Xians" so... (well mostly the young, hip, cool, ones though)

But speaking of which. what really annoys me are stupid tech product names. You can find at least 10 stupid tech product names on Tech Crunch /every day/. Open source and Apple are particularly bad offenders. I feel dirty and stupid using or asking about them often.

Am I an old curmudgeon? I grew out of a more serious time for computer tech. Nowadays the playskoollification of everything in tech just makes me want to shrivel up :P

Though... lately ONE such stupid product name has grown on me a bit... "dropbear" and embedded SSH server. :) Every time I see it I smile a little...
