There are also an equal number of helpers that do not read the OPs posts carefully and offer bad, conflicting or redundant advice as well. Including some big names! Even I've done it a couple times myself

Were all a bit harried these days...

Switch grass is a good idea. It could be grown along the highways and mowed by the same people and equipment. All you would have to add is a method to get it to silos like you do corn. In the U.S.A that's a lot of switch grass.
Yes it did raise the price of J.D.#7. Now I'm really annoyed.

Ethanol is a tree huger gimmick. It take more energy to make ethanol than it saves when you use it. Very annoying. Most is made from corn therefore raising the price of corn and food. Most live stock eat corn so the price of beef, pork ect. goes up. Also very annoying. Now I went from annoyed to pissed.
Not really. Oil is a finite source whether the Earth has 20 or 100 years' supply, it will be depleted at some point. I agree on the corn issue tho, and it can be made more efficiently from switch grass which can produce up to 3 crops per year opposed to corn's one. Of course Big Oil wants nothing to do with ethanol. The Saudi oil barons still need their 20 bathroom castles and siler-plated Rolls Royces.
That is not necessarily true. The finite supply is a concept promoted by the oil industry to help justify their prices. I will admit that I didn't search very long, because I couldn't remember where to look, but there is an article about oil being found at a depth that is far deeper than would be possible if it originated from organic matter. The concept that it brought out, is that oil originates from bacteria which eats rock.

Whether that is true or not, the term fossil fuel is definitely a misnomer, and though we may deplete a known supply of oil at one location, there are others around, and more that are being created.

Surely the be all and end all is the quality of the help we give?

Some will be recognised and some won't, but I get my buzz from the occasional thank you that comes my way.

Post count is post count and is a useful tool in telling Admin how active the forum is.

As for reputation, it's nice to be thanked, but I would never dream of leaving a reminder or asking for it. If it causes that much friction and jealousy, just stop it. At least we'll then know how genuine our helpers are.

Time to move to something more annoying than the direction of this post.
