I just recently updated my workstation. My previous "goto" solution was the dual Xeon scene. But after reading and considering, and ditching any preconceptions about more is always better, I ended up with my current config, granted in my previous server case, or should I say trailer house
. It works out for my HD config, and lets me hang many stealth fans
. Current WEI for CPU & mem is 7.7, and I don't miss those dual Xeons at all, since I'm not serving tons of I/O request for other clients
. Instead the higher OC serves my fewer more immediate needs pleasantly faster, and much more economical. Investment on mobo, memory, CPU & cooler was a hint over $800, compare to my $1.6k+ for my last dual Xeon kit, with less memory.
