I wouldnt feel right nominating myself!

No offense intended and modesty aside- but you made a thread asking what do you have to do to get the award already and you see others get it and not you, so why not nominate yourself as well. Least if you nominate yourself and are awarded it, you can at least say you earned it yourself.
LOL! I have had a few students tell me they placed my name "in the hat" for helping them through PC issues... but I never heard anything from anyone @ MS!

It sounds like you must be nominated many times before one is considered?
Darryl, please do not understand me wrong now, I just feel I have to say this.

To do voluntary work, any kind of voluntary work be it cooking on homeless shelters or doing weekly shopping for disabled neighbor or helping on forums, it should in my opinion be reward enough to feel and see that your input has helped. If you do it for regognition and fame, you are doing it in my opinion for the wrong reasons.

This is, of course, only my very personal, very subjective opinion. But a very strong opinion, the reason why I for instance never rep anyone who's begging for rep in their sigs. Regardless how outstanding posts they write, how much they help. Because that is not the reason to be here. For the same reason I would never even consider nominating someone who begs to be nominated.

I feel uncomfortable because of your question: "Why do those others have got the public regognition but not me when I would deserve it at least as much?".

Please understand this is, as I mentioned, only my personal and subjective opinion. You are doing good job here, have deserved every rep point you have, have helped a number of OP's. I am happy you have joined the Seven Forums, helping it to be the best Windows forums on the net. But your MVP you have to earn without my nomination; after reading this thread I could never nominate you. For me you have a bit wrong motives.

I respect your opinion, however perhaps you misunderstood the why of it all.

I didnt start this thread as a reason to be nominated, nor am I asking for such. I merely am seeking advice on how the program works... especially since I had two students let me know they had nominated me about 3-4 semesters ago. All I know of the program is that you had to be nominated for the position.

Why do I, or any of us, have certifications? For either recognition as a subject expert, or higher pay. Sure I'd like the recognition, who wouldn't? But, if I came off as asking for it; that was not my intention for this post!

Again, I merely was seeking insight as to how the process works; especially if you've been told you were nominated, and to expect an email that never showed. For example... if nominated, is there a test of some sorts? Or... is this acknowledgement merely a "popularity contest"?

Many MVPs have the "title" when they join up here too so reputation here isn't a factor. Being a MCP, professional, may have something to do with not having MVP since it recognizes voluntary work.

I believe there are more who deserve it too, and I agree with Kari's view as well.
