Question about watching 24p films on 100Hz and 200Hz HDTV's

Ok, firstly, let me just say that I am not in a position to purchase a new TV and am only interested in the functionality in these new high refresh rate HDTV's with super-smooth motion engines.

I was in Currys today looking at the TVs (as I was bored - I actually intended to go to Halfords and pick up a mudguard and 2 sets of brakes for my bicycle) and was impressed when looking at one of Samsung's Ultra-thin LED TV's (SAMSUNG UE46D8000 46" Full HD LED 3D TV buy online | Currys)

It was playing video really smoothly and I was VERY impressed by its ability to do so and its image quality, but when it played 24fps film trailers they were coming out super-smooth too, which is something I seriously don't like AT ALL - films are played at 24fps in a cinema, and I like to watch them at those 24fps as it gives a film its film feel.

I was wondering - do all of these super high refresh rate TV's have options to turn that motion stuff off? I mean, if I got one, I'd only want to use the smooth motion for watching Formula One and perhaps PC gaming on a TV.

Cheers (not trying to rant - just wanting to know about these TV's)

Yep. On the Samsungs, it's called motion judder canceller. Turn that off and the artificial smoothness goes away.

Cheers - would that be the same for most other manufacturers?

    Similar options, yes.
