Along with that thought, hardware firewalls that require a yearly subscription to stay current with bug fixes. It's all the rage now. Buy a decent hardware firewall appliance for > $500 and be prepared to likely spend money to keep it up to date :/ Maybe after 5 or 8 years of life, but not starting just 12 months out. Give us SOME product usability insurance! Geeze...
The entire "software as pay as you go service" has been making an unwelcome comback lately (Used to be all that on big iron back in the day).
