Windows 7 - Why I think the Ipad/IpadII is crap :( |

Why I think the Ipad/IpadII is crap :( Yeah it might have a good battery life ... but so has my smart phone (in the end the iPad is an iPhone that can't make calls)
So there may be loads of apps ... Android are creating 2 free apps to every app that apple produce (plus the Android ver. are usually better)
iproducts need iTunes ... I don't .... I've never come across such a piece of crap software that you will never own and never have control over
With the exception of the headphone slot, you ain’t gonna find any standard connectors on the iPad 2. That means no microSD, no microUSB and no microHDMI. You can get adapters that work with the proprietary connector at the bottom. But you’ll have to fork over more extra dough to Apple, which my cheap Android-using half finds to be a bummer.
Lets not even go down the FLASH route as we know this is a no brainier
While it’s easy to download movies into the iPad 2, folks who use video formats such as AVI or MKV will need to convert their files — something my Android-using half doesn’t need to do.
While it’s nice to have 2 cameras and all, they are kinda crappy, even by mobile device standards.
Forget 4G
The iPAD II has many documented issues with Wi-Fi dropping off intermittently, which doesn't happen with most other Wi-Fi devices.
And last but not least ... the price.
You could realistically purchase 2 fairly descent spec PC laptops (with mobile broadband that works) for the price of 1 ipad II .... I'd like your thoughts .... I hate the bloody things but that's just my opinion | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Built OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (Build 7600) CPU AMD Phenom Quad core 9950 black edition Motherboard Gigabyte Memory 8Gb Graphics Card 2x XFX Radeon 5850 Sound Card PCI Express X-Fi Titanium / Logitech G35 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP 2410i Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU Jean Tech Storm 700W Case Cooler Master COSMOS S Cooling Akasa Evo Blue Pro Hard Drives 1x 500Gb Seagate

I don't own any tablet but I agree Itunes is not the best software. I know you guys overseas hate Ianything more than us in the states. I personally don't like the Iphone either. I use Droid. To me if you're a power user and need to customize and take control of your device Apple is not the way to go. But you can't beat some of it's simplicity. I do use an Ipod touch for my car though. That's about it. If I hadn't gotten it as a gift I probably would have just updated my stereo and used a large USB stick to hold my songs. But frankly between the Ipad and other Tablets it just boils down to what you want it to do and what you typically use it for. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Pro 64bit build v. 7600 SP1 CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.00GHz w/ Zalman 9700 NT Heatsink Motherboard Asus P5N-e SLI Memory Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 4G Graphics Card EVGA Geforce GTX 470 Sound Card Creative X-Fi xtreme music Monitor(s) Displays Dual 24" ASUS VW246H Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Alienware Mouse Logitech G5 PSU Coolermaster 650W Case Coolermaster Cosmos 1000 Cooling Coolermaster and Silverstone 120mm Hard Drives Western Digital 300G Velociraptor hosting Win 7 Pro 64bit

Nick, I own a few tablets and the iPad2 is by far the best and in daily use with all the family (the others aint touched), what you need to see is that it's not a pc/laptop replacement it's a tablet - something you read the newspaper, play scrabble, angry birds, read kindle or any number of kids educational games, I even use it to watch Sky news at the breakfast table.
You really need to own one to appreciate what a great tool it is, I know it's overpriced Apple but it really is a great piece of kit that I wouldn't be without. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number z3r010 OS Windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1 CPU Intel i7 965 Extreme Edition Motherboard ASUS Rampage II Extreme Memory 12GB Corsair Dominator DDR3, PC3-12800 (1600) Graphics Card ATI HD5870 2GB Eyefinity 6 Sound Card SupremeFX X-Fi Monitor(s) Displays 3 x27" Dell & 3 x 23" Dell Screen Resolution 3 @ 2560x1440 & 3 @ 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Ergononic 7000 Mouse Logitech Performance MX PSU 1200W Gigabyte ODIN Pro V2 PSU Case Thermaltake Tai Chi Cooling Corsair Hydro H50 Hard Drives RevoDrive Hybrid - 1TB

The only two reasons I would never own one are price, and software.
I played with my cousins iPad for a bit. It was nice, fast and probably does what he needs it for. Only thing I don't like about it is how expensive it is for what it does.
Now, if I could get one for two to three hundred,I would really consider it, but I know a lot more about Android which is probably why I prefer it to apples software. That, and iTunes is a big pile of crap.
I hate having to deal with my kids iPod touch because of it. It's overkill just to add music to what is essentially an mp3 player. All of the extra crap that gets installed for iTunes is a joke.
The iPod itself is great though, and that's what I would expect from an iPad too. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite L455D OS Windows 7 Home Premium CPU Amd Semperon 2.10GHz Memory 2 Gig Graphics Card ATI Radeon 3100 Sound Card Realtek Monitor(s) Displays 15.6 inch Screen Resolution 1366x768 Mouse Logitech Wireless Hard Drives 250gig Internet Speed 16/2 cable |

Our fearless leader has it right. The iPad's something different than a PC....and I wish I had one! I use my iPod Touch every day, but there are things I don't do with it because the screen is just too small, even though it is incredibly clear and sharp.
I made the choice last spring to buy a dual-core netbook instead of an iPad, and I don't regret that decision at all...but that doesn't mean I don't also want an iPad. And I don't think iTunes is quite as bad to deal with as some of you are making it out to be.....and I don't mind converting videos either. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Of the tablets I looked at and I looked at them all, the IPad2 is the cream of the crop.
With that said it is way over priced for a TABLET! IMHO!

Unfortunately I do/did own an iPad2 (supplier gave it to me to try out and promote sales - funny thing is I don't like it and have offered to send it back but he reckons its ok to keep it 400 squid down the drain for him) ...
but like you said its something to read the newspaper, play games, read books etc. at £400 a shot it's really expensive when at 1/2 the price I could do the same thing on my laptop/netbook or even android smartphone for that matter.
Since Christmas I have 8 parents bring me their ipads with broken screens where their children (all below 12 years of age) have treated this equipment as if it was an etch a sketch (1 was snapped in half literally)
14 new ipad users have asked me to come around to show them how to stream the countless DVD's that they also got for Christmas as they were under the impression that you could stick the round shiny disc thing in the side of the iPad just like a laptop... (not to mention that they have to pay for my services ontop of the purchase price & 2 of them don't have any other PC/Apple equipment) mind you these few did no homework on the device whatsoever
Sorry to say but as this is just my personal opinion but the ipad and many other tablets like it are just a waste of money and give many users the wrong impression ... I just feel sorry for those that have been ripped off by money pinching commission based salesmen and misleading tv adverts that make out that its the best thing since sliced bread, when it's clearly not. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Built OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (Build 7600) CPU AMD Phenom Quad core 9950 black edition Motherboard Gigabyte Memory 8Gb Graphics Card 2x XFX Radeon 5850 Sound Card PCI Express X-Fi Titanium / Logitech G35 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP 2410i Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU Jean Tech Storm 700W Case Cooler Master COSMOS S Cooling Akasa Evo Blue Pro Hard Drives 1x 500Gb Seagate

But you haven't used it to its full potential, the thing about your line of work is that you're exposed to the negative aspects of a particular product, the iPad was sold as a slate PC, not a tablet, it's not apples fault that customers didn't do any research, it's not apples fault that silly customers gave their children access to a £400 piece of hardware.
I know you're sceptical about what the iPad is, but I advise you keep an open mind when you watch this video here: Apple - QuickTime - Apple Special Event January 2010
I can guarantee by the end of it you will understand that the iPad was released as something that wasn't to compete with netbooks or notebooks, but it was released as something in between a smart phone and a notebook, also, the iPad was announced in January 2010, and then released to market in march, plenty of time to research, oh, and I never visit seven forums on PC, I've typed this whole reply on iPad 2, not using tapatalk. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Build OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel Q6600 @ 3Ghz Motherboard Evga NF78-CK-132-A 3-Way SLI Memory 4Gb DDR2 Corsair Dominator @ 1066Mhz 5-5-5-15 Graphics Card EVGA 560 GTX SC FTW 1GB Sound Card Realtek ALC888 HD 7.1 Audio, logitech G35 7.1 headset Monitor(s) Displays Dell S2409W 16:9, HDMi, DVI & VGA Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech generic keyboard Mouse Razor Lachesis Banshee V2 Blue, 4000DPI PSU Xigmatek 750W Quad sli quad core 80% eff Case Antec 900 Gaming Case Cooling Zalman CNPS9700-NT NVIDIA Tritium Hard Drives Samsung 7200rpm 250Gb SATA
