Windows 7 - Universal camcorder video tape player

I have been searching online for quite a while now and nothing, it seems this forum is filled with experts on everything and anything technological so I figured I would ask you all.
I need something that can play many different types of camcorder tapes so we can convert to DVDs. We have had many, many, cameras over the years so we have many different sizes of tapes. What are these even called and were can I get them?

That might work for some, but I was looking for like a VHS player that has different slots for many types of camcorder tapes.

i really don't know if such a gadget exists.

in order for it to work, it will need separate reading heads and sprockets for all the different tape types, making it an unwieldy expensive beast.

expect to pay serious money for such a specialised device.

chances are it will be a lot cheaper to look for individual cameras on ebay or somewhere similar.

I just searched around for all my tapes and turns out I only have 8mm and MiniDV. MiniDV should be really easy to get a player for, but what about 8mm?

Maybe cheapest?
