Left picture.
We are looking westward.
The confluence of the Mississippi R. left/center and Illinois R. far right behind the tall tree.
My home is about 90* right of where I am standing about 1 mile away.
Grafton is approx. 150-250ft. below me along the river bank.
Not much up here on this part of the hill just enough for this small restraunt and parking lot.
We are still about 100ft. more to the top of the ridge.
The right picture is out my front door looking towards the first picture about a mile away. Highway is off to my right. The drive down to Grafton is about a 300ft. drop. of paved snake trail.
Put a little snow on it and you would have the worlds best Luge run. Survivors would get a medal.

Whenever we holiday in Devon we always come off the A30 at the Moretonhampstead exit for the leisurely drive over Dartmoor and rejoin civilization at Tavistock or Yelverton, depending where we are staying.
Haven't seen Topper yet, but now I know he thinks he's a Dartmoor pony, I'll keep a lookout. :)
Well we went on holiday to Tenby in the September of 1986, when the children were small and thought it would be a nice place to bring them up. At the time we lived in the East Midlands near to the East Midlands Airport and the Racing track were they had the Rock concerts. Went home put the house on the market and in the March of 1987 moved to Saundersfoot in a house overlooking the beach.
It's a good job we don't live there now as it was on 6 levels, living upstairs and bedrooms downstairs.
We were there for about 6½ years then moved to this little village, which is very quiet, and love it, about 20 minutes walk to the local beach or a couple of minutes in the car, it's about 2½ miles away. We've been here since 1993 in a bungalow, so all one level. Not sure if I've got a photo of the place on here, I'll post it if I find it.
Joan, I love the beach in Tenby and we have had a couple of enjoyable holidays at Haven's Lydstep Beach.
When I retired we moved from Kansas City, Mo to central Florida. Along with the retirement I have now become a certified "beach observer" and there is a lot to observe on the beaches.
G-Earth Snip.
Arrows converge to my location of taking the cofluence picture in my above post.
Top of snip is due North.
Just right of where I wrote in ILL. R. there is a barge with a river tug boat pushing it.
In ten years that barge and river tug are still in the same place.
