New TV's

My ten year old TV died last week. I was out shopping for a new one. I noticed they have things like "Internet Ready" and "Wi-Fi" on them now. I did not get one with that, but I was just curious what you would use it for. == By the way, I got a Zenith 60 inch. It is nice.

That is an option for Netflix music etc so you don't have to wire up all of that stuff it's just wireless

Vista and Windows7, sometimes Ubuntu and Fedora

I have seen models (in Germany) where you can record and play programs to and from USB sticks or USB attached disks. Have not yet looked for them in the US. But that would be handy for the wife who likes to record her sods which she now still records to VHS tapes. It is pretty useless for me though because I do not watch TV in the US. Only in Germany (at times) where I have plenty of commercial free channels.

Even if you don't use the apps, ect the internet connection is still nice since you can easily update the firmware.

You can use apps like BBC Iplayer, Netflix, 4OD etc. If you have an Xbox, you should know that you can get them on there for free if you're a Gold member. I've never actually used them because i've still got my 6 year old Toshiba
