Possible to stream PC to TV?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, i've never done something like this before. I originally wanted to have two desks side by side, one with my TV on it and one with my monitor and PC.

However, things have changed. I'll attach a very accurate drawing of what my room looks like. What I would really like is my PC hooked up to my TV and to my monitor so I can switch between watching TV, using my computer on my TV and having the TV off and using the monitor by itself. I don't have any DVI cables that stretch long enough to put it across my room, is there any alternative, wireless, ways to do this?

Just rearrange your room. If there is such a device (i don't doubt it but haven't ever seen it), then likely it wouldn't be very cheap to instantaneously transmit an HD video and sound signal from the pc to a tv. Also, you would have to have some sort of way to connect it, either HDMI or USB on the tv, whatever the requirement would be. The reason I probably haven't seen such a device is because of the expense and the fact that very few people would actually buy it. Put your pc and tv near each other by a window. Geeks need air to breathe sometimes. Put the bed in a dark corner. Geeks need to sleep sometimes.

if that is an accurate picture of what your room look like, you have got to be the smallest person in the world. anyways, i used my tv as my monitor for the longest time. you can do that too. if your tv has dvi or vga entrances. is that what you meant?

If your TV has HDMI input and your video card has HDMI out. Buy a longish HDMI cable. Then set your windows desktop up to mirror the display (though your monitor and tv will have to use the same resolution). Then you can turn either of the tv or monitor on or off at any time and use which ever one... (Get a cordless KB and mouse too to complete the project)

A wired solution - it isn't exactly pretty though; if your video adaptor has an hdmi out you can get an hdmi cable ( they are expensive ) and just extend the desktop. Or; if your pc doesn't have an hdmi - you can get a usb to hdmi adapter and just use it when you need it. Displaylink makes the software, I have an adaptor made by Rosewill, use it with an older d820 laptop sometimes. It's not a gaming solution, but for video, software, even netflix works.
