Today I figured I'd rather pay a $50 fine than vote in local council elections. The $50 would probably do more good...
Do you have to pay fine if not voting? If so, I would also rather pay than be forced to vote.

In my opinion democracy only works if the citizens have a free choice to participate or not. Forcing them to vote is a step in a wrong direction.

If you DON'T Vote than you have no right to complain!

I wouldn't pay to vote either. It is a right to vote not a price to vote!

No Dennis, they are not paying to vote, instead they have to pay fine if they do not vote. For me that is forcing people to vote and that's no longer democracy.

    Totally agree with you Kari!
I wish we could fine all those in Government for failing to read the new bills being brought before Congress or passing a bill just because they belong to a certain party.

Sorry for ranting on a topic that should not be discussed in this forum.
