Thanks for your kind wishes and advice everyone.

Since I posted originally, my doctor has arranged further comprehensive blood tests, and then a meeting with him to discuss future treatment.

As for the illness, I'll deal with it as best as I can.

I do know how you feel. Lower spine and hips with degenerative Arthritis.
In my case exercise helps some. I really don't know why.

Sorry to hear about your illness Andrew. Hopefully the doctor will be able to start you on a course to enable you to control it without too much further pain. I can't really offer any advice but has the doctor said anything about taking cod liver oil capsules to help lubricate the joints ?

Layback Bear, you are quite right about exercising if you can. We have some young neighbours who are both at work during the day so my wife and I take their King Charles Cavalier dog for a long walk every day and it does seem to ease the pain.

Thanks for the suggestion Joan, I'll look into it. As a youngster I remember having to take cod liver oil from a spoon every day - yuk! The capsules though may be beneficial to me.

You are so welcome.. my suggestions are just that.. suggestions..however there are some things that do work with problems.. not for all .. be safe.. stay in touch with your Doc... read all you can along with using research to find even more info., I'm like a sponge when it comes to my family needs.

As far as research is involved, the internet is second-to-none and I shall use it as much as I can.

I have a long list of questions for my doctor so my next appointment may well over-run it's allotted time span.

Every family needs its rock and it sounds like you are yours!

Take care and thanks again for your good advice.
