Today, after a thorough medical examination, I've been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

Other than taking painkillers, which are not very effective and have side-effects, is there anything I can do to ease and control the constant pain?
Sorry to hear that Andrew. I believe I shall have arthritis in my knee and my shoulder as I age. Not something I look forward to.

Feeling bad to know it, Andy !

I suffered to a similar disease when I was of 9 years .... it is a very bad experience to me. Couldn't attend school for more than one year. It was only Penidure that was used on me, as far as I can remember, but most probably nowadays this med is banned due to its side effects.

After getting better, some hard physical exercise , specially Martial Art Taekwondo made me completely fit and normal . But I dont know if the doctor will permit it to you at your age.

For the pain, you may try hot water bag ; for a temporary relief . Get well soon. Take care, take the meds regularly, and get connected with the doctor. Our best wishes are with you.

Today, I turned into a bit of a troll. I put my tripod on top of my car and everyone slowed down. LOL.

Thanks for your kind wishes and advice everyone.

Since I posted originally, my doctor has arranged further comprehensive blood tests, and then a meeting with him to discuss future treatment.

As for the illness, I'll deal with it as best as I can. :)

I do know how you feel. Lower spine and hips with degenerative Arthritis.
In my case exercise helps some. I really don't know why.
