Thanks again for the comprehensive and interesting replies and very useful links.

I always feel referral is king, and if i can learn one little thing every day, then i feel i am achieving.

I was going to have a go at python, but only based on google searches for the easiest programming languages to learn. Having said that non of you guys mentioned it and i don't want to start in the wrong direction.

I will have a look at the VB.NET tutorial and see if i can get my head around it.

I will let you know, thanks again.

    ~Darren~
    Hi Darren,

I don't know much about Python, I have a friend who knows it but apart from that, I can't really comment on what it's like as a language. I would recommend sticking to something that is part of .NET, of which VB is the easiest :)

I'm sure you'll pick up VB.NET in no time.

PS I hope you don't end up regretting that offer Tom. :)
Lol, well hopefully you'll never need to take me up on it, but if you do then I'll do my best to help :)

Good luck with your endeavors Darren. If Tom gets fed up with you I can take up the baton.
I think I would get fed up with VB before I get fed up with Darren

That's the one they are teaching for my Information Systems major here at Cleveland State University. A free tool to help you get started:

Visual C# 2010 Express | Microsoft Visual Studio

By the way, I'll be 53 in May and just went back to school in 2010. I wish I had done it when I was 45. I'm not too old, so you sure as heck aren't!
