    In My Opinion...........

Logically, I find it hard to believer that anyone could assume that, with a large as the universe is, that THIS is the only planet with some kind of intelligent life on it. It's just too vast for there to be one single (and in reality, miniscule) planet that just happened to get lucky.
    We are not intelligent life!!

Wars, diseases, hunger, self destruction.....this is not intelligent, this is a high level stupidity.
Well, ok, you got me there. :)
Of course, by intelligent, I mean capable of thought. Not always smart, or good thoughts, but thoughts none the less.

    It's ok, looks aren't everything.
At least you don't look like one of them martians from Mars Attacks, with the fishbowl covering your open brain.

One really should be more concise when asking a question such as this. Alien has many meaning:

    al·ien   [eyl-yuhn, ey-lee-uhn]
    noun
    1.
a resident born in or belonging to another country who has not acquired citizenship by naturalization ( distinguished from citizen).
    2.
    a foreigner.
    3.
a person who has been estranged or excluded.
    4.
a creature from outer space; extraterrestrial.
    adjective
    5.
residing under a government or in a country other than that of one's birth without having or obtaining the status of citizenship there.
    6.
belonging or relating to aliens: alien property.
    7.
unlike one's own; strange; not belonging to one: alien speech.
    8.
adverse; hostile; opposed (usually followed by to or from ): ideas alien to modern thinking.
    9.
    extraterrestrial.
Yes, I know what was meant, but then even I might be included if going by the third connotation. I could probably even squeeze demons and ghosts into the definitions.

It's very selfish by us to believe that we are masters of the universe.
    Exactly.

To presume otherwise merely highlights how ignorant those that believe it to be true really are.

From the context of the question, it's pretty clear what the intended meaning is.

Selfish is the wrong word, because there is only ONE master of the universe, and He doesn't live on some alien foreign planet. The only purpose I see in the word selfish or ignorant is to stigmatize anyone that doesn't believe as you do.

I think that I already covered that in my last couple of sentences in my post.

Holy crap yeah! I've seen some odd things in the night sky that human technology that is known of cannot be used to explain such things. Also, the fact that the universe is................GINORMOUS!! The idea that mankind is the only intelligent life in the universe or galaxy is absurd, especially when you look at human stupidity...iphones anyone? :)
