We didn't have a mouse or keyboard in those days, it was hammer and chisel and a smooth slab of granite...

Actually, I pulled an old 386 out of the trash and played with that for about a week before I got bored. A month or two later I went out and bought an Acer Acros:

    Pentium 75 (50MHz FSB with a 1.5 Multiplier!)
    8MB Ram
    850MB Conner HD
    14.4K Modem
Really nice video card with 1MB of memory on it.
Paid a premium price for the 15" CRT monitor, since the 14" model looked so dinky next to it in the store.

My first real computer would have to have been a 286 with a added math chip, the real 5.25 floppy not the new fangled small floppy which i had to add later......oh how high tech. No email, no internet, no windows, no color unless green or amber are colors.....you know what I mean! Tractor feed OKI data printer that you could hear and feel two or three rooms away. All of these wired together to the obligatory monitor base switched power multiplier.

First real computer was a Commodore C64, which I still own.

First PC was an Osborne 386SX20 tower with 4 mb RAM, an 80 mb (yes, 80 mb)
hard-disk drive the size of a shoe-box and a 256kb graphics card (Trident?). It
also came pre-loaded with the original Wolfenstein, sparking a love of FPS games
which has lasted to this day.

Current desktop is an Acer Aspire AS10 Pentium 4HT 2.8Ghz, 1 Gb RAM, Ge-Force
5700FX (256mb) graphics card, SB Live! soundcard and multiple hard drives, each
    with a different OS.

Mainly runs XP Home and is set up for gaming, but is currently running Win 8 CP
with no problems apart from getting the Ge-Force going.

Current laptop: - See 'My System Specs'.
