I would say that the daughter is seriously lame instead. She gets free food, clothes, a roof over her head, etc...., all in exchange for just simply cleaning up after herself and a few chores. I don't think that's much to ask for at all.
She's just acting like a self entitled ungrateful brat. If she does this when she gets out in the real world, it would be much worse on her. The father is just trying to teach her a lesson out of love to hopefully have her avoid having real life slapping her upside the head in the future. EDIT:
