Windows 7: 'Xbox 720' Might Reject Used Games

Miffed at the possibility that new game consoles could lock out used games? Get used to it.



“I’ve heard from one reliable industry source that Microsoft intends to incorporate some sort of anti-used game system as part of their so-called Xbox 720,” Kotaku’s Steven Totilo wrote on Wednesday morning. I have no reason to doubt that he heard that. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s happening — at this point, Microsoft is probably considering all sorts of features for its next Xbox console and floating them by game developers to see what the reaction is. But I’m sure it’s something that’s being very strongly considered. Also, the death of used games is inevitable.

Well, that's gonna majorly suck for Console players.

Yup, means if you buy a game and you don't like it... you're stuck with it. Probably is going to kill the whole market of people who rent games.

if your a pc player then your use to it but for the console players like my bro are going to hate it i'm more of a pc gamer unlike him

I seriously doubt that this is true. First how do they determine what is a used game? Second, I've never heard of any of the major publishers complaining about selling and buying used games. Third, it is legal to sell and buy used games as long as the CD key is open to use by the buyer.

This will never fly in the consumer market. So yeah...smells like FUD to me.

just spoke to my brother and he says he could care less since all he mainly buys is new games anyways haha Thought he would care but he doesn't
