Regedit query
Don't know if I am in the right spot but...
Just query on using the regedit from the command prompt.
Now I am fairly new to this sort of stuff and was wondering if someone could advise me on using the feature to get rid of stubborn apps.
I was clearing an old XP yesterday and I use Revo to do most of the clearing and this machine was particularly full of what I think of as rubbish that the owners kids ha put on over some considerable time.
Now half way through the clear out the Revo suddenly dropped a lot of the referred apps of the page and I couldn't work out what was going on. Thinking hat the apps had been deleted I went on to scan etc and found some refs to apps that I thought (and spent a lot of time clearing) were still somewhere on the computer (plus 159 malwares).
Out of curiosity I checked in regedit and found under some of the HKEY groups namely the CURRENT USER, LOCAL MACHINE, CURRENT CONFIG that there were refs to SOFTWARE and listed in the reg items were the very same apps that I had "deleted" in Revo.
Now I was a tad irritated as the Revo had told me that the reg had been scanned and the reg cleared of the app details. So I clicked on for example the software listing for Epson printers and right clicked on it and found that I got a delete option.
What I would like to know please is a) why did the Revo not remove any reference to the Epson printers in the registry and b) can I just delete the whole folder from the left hand listing and be sure that it is now absolutely gone?
