How could we forget 3.1?

The people who have my sympathy are the ones whose first contact with Windows was the Millenium Edition - what a pig that was.

Well I started with 98, in 1998, and I've liked using them all from then, even WinME, which I never had any problems with nor did I have problems with Vista, but I do like Windows 7 it has many good features, I've not tried 8 yet still biding my time on that one.

You could dualboot Windows 8 or try it in a vitual machine. Windows 8 is FAST! I had to get that out of my system Also, I can agree with you on Vista. I don't think it is a bad OS and I really like the looks of the interface.

I'm using a dual boot of Sabayon Linux x64, and Windows 8 Consumer Preview x64. My complaint about Windows 7 is the boot speed is horribly slow on my machines compared to other OS's.

I went from XP to Windows 7 and like it. I still have an unopened Vista retail box. (I think it will pass with my estate some day.) The other machines I have still run XP primarily because they're old and hardware limited. I've enjoyed previewing Windows 8. I would probably enjoy it more if I had display drivers and a touch screen. I won't rule out Windows 8 but I'm not rushing to the Egg when it hits the shelves. If it's still around when I build my next system, I'll more than likely spring for it.

I'm also a Win 3.1/DOS veteran. Have used most variants since.

Installed the Win 7 beta when it came out, and never looked back.

This IS the OS I dreamed about way back in the 3.1 days....

Seven is a keeper. So much so that I'll skip eight altogether. I'm not interested in Metro. Have played with both the CP and Dev Preview. No thanks.
