    5 Guys Burgers and Fries

OK, so after all the Hype about In-N-Out and their hidden menus, etc. I had to try them when they finally came here. So so burger, and terrible fries (everyone who loves them said it must have been an off day). Whatever, never went back as BK is better.

Krispy Kreme, must have best doughnut, can get them when they are still warm, etc. A good doughnut, but Rolling pin is better IMHO.

So now, 5 Guys Burgers and Fries are in town. Another simple menu, but raves about best burger last 7 years, Zagat #1 rated burger. Free toppings!

So...anyone been there? What do you think? The next coming? A must visit? A good burger? Don't bother?

    Good burger, fries well made
    tastey and plentiful. I have
    been back.
    Home made still the best.
For a fast food joint, quite good.

It's alright. A decent burger and the amount of fries you get is simply ridiculous. I find it a bit expensive myself. It doesn't blow me away.

I would have to agree with this 100%!

For the money, go to Red Robin, or any other, ACTUAL, restaurant, sit down and enjoy yourself a burger with some flavor. The fries are the only thing they really have going for them.

I am a Five Guys fan. The trouble is I don't eat beef much and I eat out even less.

OK, so, no burgergasms, but would you say worth trying? We have several "high end" burger places nearby, but I'm not a fan of spending $12 for a burger and fries when 1/2 that will get you just as much at one of the major chains. A Guy

It's definitely worth it in my opinion. I couldn't afford it as a regular deal, but for a once-in-a-while treat it does a good job. :)

Not available here, so can't comment - but it's gotta be better than McDonald's which is always a plus.

Personally I've found the best burgers are from independent 'Fish n Chip' shops.

The best are usually Asian run (Vietnamese in particular) seem to have a knack for fantastic burgers. Typically cheaper too.

As for chips - ever since I learnt how to cook them myself at home, 98% of the time I'm disappointed now with take away chips/fries )

Have to agree that Five Guys is too expensive. It is worth it to try it a least once, as I did. To eat their regularly, no way. Overrated though, IMO.

Red Robin or Islands has really good ones as well, but they are restaurant expensive.

Burgers at In and Out are good - fries, not so much.

Fatburger is another place that has really good burgers I think. Bit expensive though as well.

There is a place in my town, and probably others, called Fuddrucker's. The hamburgers and hot dogs are really good. They have their own bottles of mustard labeled "Mother Fuddrucker's Mustard". Try saying that five times real fast and keeping it clean. :)
