The end of Earth, the end of us, and the end of the universe

Humanity is obsessed with history. I don’t know why, but for the most part we would much rather lose ourselves in reverie than contemplate the future. Even when we do think of the future, it’s nearly always constrained to our future, usually just a handful of years hence. It is a rare person indeed who thinks of 50 or 100 years in the future — but what about 1,000 years? Or a million years? Or a billion years?

Will humanity still exist? Will the Pyramids of Giza still exist? Will Earth or the Solar System exist?

This is talking about the future of our physical world, which supposedly had a beginning and will have an end. But millions of people believe we also have a soul and part of a spiritual world that had no beginning and therefore will have no end. When you think about that, the physical world is of no consequence for our future.

I don't know about the end of the world.

I failed to take my wife her wake-up coffee this morning and listening to the rumblings from the bathroom suggests my world is going to end pretty quick if the coffee hasn't arrived before she's finished her ablutions. :)
