I'm really pissed because PayTV has 8 dedicated channels to the Olympics, so that means FTA coverage is going to be utter shite like the last games

(Used to have PayTV but got rid of it. All the shows kept getting in the way of the ads )
I thought the 9 network (FTA) had coverage rights?

They do - but for the most part they focus on the swimming and then just give 'recaps' of everything else. Rarely do they focus on one event from start to finish. And if an Australian isn't in contention of an event - forget it. Zero coverage. I can understand they can't cover everything - but they've 4 channels to choose from. They could cover a lot more if Foxtel didn't have most of the rights.

On another note, whoever come up with Aussie!, Aussie!, Aussie!, Oi!, Oi!, Oi! needs a bloody good thrashing.

My god, but I am sick of hearing it. It annoyed me when it started with the 2000 Sydney Games - 12 years on it still makes me cringe.

It makes us sound like a bunch of Oi punk band fans
