SugarSync cloud is pretty cool

For those who might be interested in cloud based storage options, please give Sugar Sync a look. As a long time user of DropBox, and an evaluator of both Google Drive and Windows Live SkyDrive, I have to find something substantial to recommend a different product.

If you are interested in SugarSync, I can provide you a referral link which will give you and I both an additonal 500MB of disk space for free. Just PM me a request and i will send it over your way.

So, what's good about SugarSync
5GB of free storage space
500MB additional space for referrals
A plethora of methods of earning more disk space for free.

It's like Dropbox, in that you can share folders and sync them to the cloud. But you can choose multiple folders from your PC. And you can sign up from multiple computers and sync different folders from each computer. Alternatively, you can sync folders between 1 PC and another PC if you choose to do so.

It's also got an option called "Web Archive" which is an online "Backup only" copy of data. You can simply drag things into there, and it's just copied to the web, but not synchronized going forward.

SugarSync offers 5 revisions of each file on their system. So, you can recover files you accidentally delete, and you can go back 5 revisions...which could be months or years if the files don't regularly change.

You get a specially formulated email address that you can forward emails with attachments to. When you do this, the attachment is removed from the email and the file is stored in the "Magic Briefcase" into a folder called Uploaded by email.

You can share files out via links, and you can later remove the links if you don't want the files shared anymore.

Finally, you can throttle your bandwidth, so it's not 100% consumed by your client.

Overall, it offers some nice features. I signed up via a friends referral and went from 5GB free to 6GB free in less than 10 minutes.

The upgrade prices are very reasonable too
30GB for $49.99 a year, or $4.99 monthly
60GB for $99.99 a year, or $9.99 monthly
100GB for $149.99 a year, or $14.99 monthly
