    goodbye to the mouse?

this looks neat, any alternative to a track pad is ok with me...

Say goodbye to your mouse and keyboard.

Leap represents an entirely new way to interact with your computers. It’s more accurate than a mouse, as reliable as a keyboard and more sensitive than a touchscreen. For the first time, you can control a computer in three dimensions with your natural hand and finger movements.
This isn’t a game system that roughly maps your hand movements. The Leap technology is 200 times more accurate than anything else on the market — at any price point. Just about the size of a flash drive, the Leap can distinguish your individual fingers and track your movements down to a 1/100th of a millimeter.
This is like day one of the mouse. Except, no one needs an instruction manual for their hands.

With a mouse, you can sit down for >24 hour marathon gaming sessions with more discomfort elsewhere compared to your mouse hand/wrist. Plus you can always take your hand off the mouse at any time to scratch yourself, pick up your drink, toss your cat off your desk, etc. I also like how mouse movement scales - using the same surface area you can drag the mouse slowly to get similar precise cursor movement, or swipe quickly to get the cursor to cover more ground.

This leap motion thingy sounds interesting but gotta see it in action for myself.

i have to say , im not over-keen on the thought of sitting in front of my laptop browsing and posting in the forum ,and constantly moving my hands and fingers, there is very little movement involved when using a mouse, and i have a touch control scroll wheel so a flick of the finger scrolls through the whole page , again little movement.
im sure it will be good for gaming etc but not for general browsing,

I think it solves a problem that doesn't exist. I see a lot of that lately with new technological innovations. Mouse FTW!

I could see it as a good complement to desktop environments, but just due to muscle strain I would not get rid of the mouse for this.

I cant imagine doing my job for 8 hours with my hands in the air in front of my monitor. (or maybe i just need to work out more)

Pretty neat, although with as long as I've been using a mouse, it'll feel a bit odd at first....
