Cave painting animation
Some nice work done here -
Stoneage Artists Created Prehistoric Movies : Discovery News
Perhaps I'm a little naive but to me this enhances the view that these images were created more for information purposes - i.e. for showing others what to hunt and how the animals behaved (they probably didn't have a suitably descriptive language) - than for any supposed spiritual reasons that are often given as the explanation for their creation. Many of the images do have spears embedded in the animals also. They would be in caves firstly because they are protected from the weather and secondly, since they are often difficult to find, will be less liable to destruction by others and thus are more akin to libraries than anything else.
