Which format will sound the best in my car?

I bought this JVC Receiver a couple of months ago for my truck. Was $105 shipped with the install kit and harnesses from Crutchfield,
JVC KD-X50BT Digital media receiver at Crutchfield.com

Has 2 USB ports, 1 front and 1 rear, The Bluetooth dongle goes into one of them, if you need to use the bluetooth.
I have the dongle in the rear so that the front is available. I haven't used a thumbdrive in it yet since I just use bluetooth control and streaming from my iPhone.
I'll load up a thumbdrive and test it out tomorrow to see how easy/hard it is to navigate through the songs.
Right now I just let it play and skip to the next song if I don't feel like listening to the current song.
it also shows the track name as well when streamed via bluetooth, which is cool.
Oh, it also comes with a mic for handsfree calling, a real bargain at $100, and it works great.
Only drawback is that the face is not detachable.
It doesn't play CD's either.

the Kenwood in my previous post has a menu system that mirrors the iPod interface, so it's just like using an iPod when controlling the iPod or thumbdrive.
the Kenwood also supports USB hubs so I have one under the dash with the iPod control cable and a USB extension cable running into my center console.
I can plug a thumbdrive in if I want and switch between the iPod and thumbdrive.
this one also has a non-detaching face and costs $300. I installed an alarm on the car as a slight deterrent to thieves.

I'd be particularly interested in whether or not you can do the following from a USB stick, using MP3 files.

1: Shuffle play across all songs when all songs are in the root of the USB.

2: Navigate to a folder of songs on the USB and then shuffle play ONLY from that folder---ignoring any songs that may be in the root or some other folder.

3: Return to beginning of any song, whether or not it is in a folder.

4: Fast forward within any song while it is playing.

5: Skip to another song in shuffle mode if I don't want to hear what is playing.

I don't use cell phones or I-PODs, so any functionality related to that stuff is irrelevant.

If not in shuffle mode, what is the play order? Alpha by file name or by tags or?

Any shortcomings generally, as compared to playing from burned CDs?
