    PlayStation 3 Owners?

I just got my PlayStation 3 Slim 120GB on September 3rd and LOVING every moment of it! This is also my first major purchase with my own money. On my next paycheck I'm gonna be getting a Sony BRAVIA S-Series 32' Full-HD 1080p HDTV from J&R Online for $569 to go along nicely with my PS3 for BRAVIA Sync .

    My PSN ID is: Alex_Tebo89

No games yet, but I'm using PS Home, and multiple Demos like GRiD, DiRT 2 Demo, Skate, Skate 2, etc.

Who else here has PS3 and plays online? I wanna start a GRiD private match and get away from the noobs who crash and run us off the road everytime.

Sorry but I am a proud owner of the Xbox 360 (unmodded), if I bought a PS3 it'd only be to use it as a PC (linux).

But I wouldn't buy one so.. lol

I have both a 360 and New PS3 slim. I have downloaded Wipeout HD for PS3 and it's fantastic! Also playing resistance and big little planet.
My only issue with the PS3 is the control pad is not as comfortable as the 360s control pad IMO the left thumb stick is better positioned on the 360 and it's just bigger and sits better.

I have a full HD but am waiting for the ultra HD with a massive 2000- 3000!! (Instead of 1080p.) Also uses HDMI 1.4

I happen to be a 360 owner. I previously had a PS and a PS2, but in May of 2006 when I was looking for a new console the PS3 wasn't out yet and I knew that in Nov 2006 when they came out it would be impossible to find one, so I went with the 360. My original console did end up dying on me, but it was almost 3 years old. However, I just bought another one because of my investment in games and the like made moving to another console too costly.

As far as TV goes, good luck on your purchase. I personally had a very bad experience with Sony standing behind a TV that i bought in 2003 and I won't buy another of their television products anymore. I switched from an LCD to a Panasonic Plasma and I was blown away. Plasmas just outperform in my opinion. More natural colors, better black levels, and image retention has been a non-issue for me. Oh yeah, typically plasmas are cheaper as well...because of lower cost to manufacturer and fewer defects in the panels over LCD. But I digress, I'm sure either TV will look fantastic for your setup.

Unless the input source changes I dont' see the point. Let me also say that I am believer that given the same input source being displayed on a properly calibrated 720p display and 1080p display looks exactly the same to the human eye as we cannot discern detail at this level. Let me restate this before somebody goes crazy. It's the input signal being at 480, 720 or 1080 which makes the difference. The display output being scaled down to 720 will not show any discernable difference on an equivalent properly calibrated display.

    To previous posters above:

I've always been a Sony fan, along with my dad since his first "purchased" TV was a Sony and it lasted almost 25 years and I even played my Sega Genesis on it with no problems in the early 90's, we have 1970s-80's Sony CD players/cassette players that STILL work and are hooked up to our Sony 5.1 surround sound system. I've had both PS1 and PS2, the PS1 had NO issues while the PS2 died on me 6 months after purchase (but I blame my friend since he used wet cloth on top and I found the warranty sticker removed and damaged since I lived a school dorm in high school). On the otherhand, we had a 1993 Mitsubishi 32 inch CRT TV that was TOP OF THE LINE and the tube died out in mid-2002, We got a Sylvania 26 CRT from 2002-2004 then it started acting up and I'm using it as backup for PS3 till I get my HDTV, we have a 26 inch CRT box "HD" (I call it HD because it's a flat screen box design with 2 Component cable connections on the back) from 2005 and already the picture is taking a dump. So I'm gonna be moving the Sylvania back into where Philips TV is and enjoy my new Sony HDTV at last .

My dad keeps telling me to go with Sony and I do like the BRAVIA line, with the additional benefit of the XMB UI matching the PS3 XMB UI along with BRAVIA Sync on PS3 Slim. I might be getting a Sony BRAVIA 5.1 surround sound system with BRAVIA Sync to complete my dream video game paradise.

I do have a huge question between 720p and 1080p, I've noticed many of PS3 games are modeled for 720p HD support and not 1080p, usually the only PS3 games that take advantage of 1080p are direct from Sony developers like NBA 09, Gran Turismo 5, MLB The Show, etc etc. But I also want to be "future proof" and not regret my purchase since I'm not making much money and wanna make it last long term. Basically, the only games I'll be buying for PS3 are PS3 exclusives since they take advantage of the full power unlike 3rd party developers do since they focus more on Xbox 360, Rockstar Games even stated that GTA 4 Liberty City was SUPPOSE to be MUCH bigger and realistic than what is in stores now, but because of the limitations of 360 HD-DVD format, they had to compromise for both systems to be "equal". But is it HONESTLY DEEPLY THAT DIFFERENT BETWEEN 720P AND 1080P? I ask because I'm trying to research a lot in short amount of time and there are many different perspective answers.
