Unusual Customs and Traditions

Just saw this: BBC News - Dunmow Flitch trial: Bacon keeps couple's romance sizzling, and was wondering what other unusual customs and traditions there are. There must be plenty, so send 'em in. I must admit that I haven't heard of the Dunmow Flitch Trial before, so it's a new one to me.

Traditions ......hmmmmmmmmmm ........... I'm a carnie and some of us old schoolers have a few superstitions/traditions I observe. I work in a joint (game) and always tear up the first dollar I earn each season and give away the last dollar I bring in. I won't play/work a pregnant woman after dark. Nobody but me touches my darts/balls until I "break the ice" each day. Same with putting my apron on.
