London Olympics

For those of you who are in or near London, I was just curious if the city is crazy about now with the games starting soon. Give us an idea of what it is like and if you are going to any events.

Yea I'll be putting photos in the other Olympic thread. I'm going down Friday and my events on Tuesday. I'm not looking forward to it though. I was down in London the weekend just gone and the Tube was noticeably busier in the central area. Going to be even busier this weekend as well as 30c weather. May avoid the Tube altogether!

The Olympics and Television
Here in the US there is a lot of complaints the way TV is handling the Olympics. Since London is six hours ahead of our east coast, not many of he events are shown live. Even when an event could be shown live in the middle of the day, it is being shown tape delay in the evening to get a better...

Olympics Fever - WHY?
I've personally never understood the fervor generated by the Olympics. Unless a relative or someone you know is competing, who cares? I saw a commercial the other day where it showed a mom that was dragging her little daughter out of bed to go to her gymnastics practice. The little girl...

It's just been announced that ground-to-air missiles will be stationed at the Olympic Stadium in London next year. Good Lord, aren't starting pistols good enough these days? :)
